Deep in the Sahara, lies a mystical land referred to as the Ennedi. Far away from human population, the area boasts of Bortle 1 skies and magical foreground rock formations making it a paradise of sorts for the intrepid astrophotographer. I am always on the lookout for such off beat locations and with our shrinking world, such locations are hard to come by, so to find myself in Ennedi was nothing short of a dream come true. Amongst the Oh! so many rock formations which abound in the Ennedi, the Aloba Arch stand majestically over its surroundings, towering to a height of over 120 meters, making it one of the tallest arches in the world. It’s span is also considered to be the 8th longest known natural arch and as the milky way rises behind it, a compelling nightscape image results….
