The orange-red hues of the soaring dunes form the backdrop for the hulks of camel thorn trees in the Namib-Naukluft Park. Dead for over 600 years, the trees are now black...scorched by the intense desert sun. The Milky Way spreads itself across the Southern skies as Lyra and Antares sink slowly behind the dunes. The purple magenta glow of the Trifid, Lagoon and North American nebulae emit their H-alpha wavelengths as the Scorpion buries its tail into the sand....
