April is a nice time to be shooting nightscapes. The Milkyway rises late at night in the east while Orion sets early in the western horizon. And if one happen to be shooting in the Sahara, then temperatures are not so high. Seen here is the constellation of Orion setting into the western horizon. This widefield image spans from Sirius in the left to the California nebula to the right. Barnard’s loop, Taurus and Pleaides are well resolved too. And of course, if you happen to be in Ennedi, Chad, then to find foreground elements against which to frame the clear Bortle 1 skies is never an issue….
