Sangam means a meet of two or more entities in Hindi. In this image we see the confluence or the “Sangam” of many elements, both human and natural. The Milky way descends from the sky into the Zanskar river valley and in turn the Zanskar river flows in from above into the Indus. Light trails from the cars on the yet to be completed road to Padum highlight the path of the river Zanskar….. The image is a composite. The foreground was shot separately during the blue hour and the tracked sky was shot a few days later from Tso Moriri, a distant lake. The focal length remained the same at 20mm though I took liberties to adjust the 205° azimuth of the sky to better fit the foreground which is at azimuth 228°. I could have remained at the foreground site to shoot the Milky Way as well, but there was a lot of light pollution around and hence the decision to shoot the sky from a darker location.
