Deep in Kaokoland, North West Namibia artist Trevor Nott has populated the region with figures of stone men. Made of stone found locally and bound together by steel rods and wires, there exist possibly close to 40 men of stone. To find them is akin to a treasure hunt as none are marked on a map. The region surrounding Puros and Orupembe is where most of these men of stone abound and it is quite an adventure getting to this area as it is well of the beaten tourist track. Seen here sitting around an imaginary fire is a family of stone, just west of Puros. The sky above lights up with Orion and his friends. Glowing in H-alpha emissions, deep sky objects such as the Seagull and California nebula are visible in the vast swathes of dust which abound in this region of the sky…
